Northern Skies Girl Scouts kick off 2014-15 with Fall Festival

Fall Festival 1
Fall Festival 2 Fall Festival 3

More than 80 Girl Scouts from 15 Northern Skies troops kicked off their 2014-2015 scouting year with the annual Fall Festival held in October at Lake Ann Park in Chanhassen.

The event was planned, organized and lead by the the girls from Junior Girl Scout Troop 14333, fifth graders.

Participants played games with squash, created a craft with found leaves & sticks, had a chance to meet a farmer from Loon Organics and made “acorn” snacks. The highlight for many girls was the harvest themed “photo booth” for troop photos.

In the spirit of sharing our bounty all attendees were asked to bring a small donation of non-perishable food for the local food shelf. A total of 148 pounds of food was collected and donated to PROP.

Northern Skies Girl Scouts 2015 Brownie Blast was attended by more than 70 girls from nine Brownie Troops from the Chanhassen area. Hosted by Junior Girl Scout Troop 15050 from St. Hubert’s School, the theme was “Games Galore”.
Brownies rotated through four game related stations: Board games where they played the favorite childhood game of Candyland and enjoyed learning the card game Spoons; Giant Games where they played Twister and Human Checkers; the craft area where each participant made a game-themed mask to take home; and the snack area where the girls made edible dominoes and played rounds of Bingo with Skittles for markers.
The event also included a service project where Troop 15050 collected donations of new games for the Pinky Swear Foundation (formerly Miracles of Mitch) toy shelf. The organization provides support to cancer stricken children and their families.

Daisy Troops experience a Taste of Twilight Camp

Daisy Day 165

2015 Daisy Day Participants

More than 30 Daisies from four troops participated in the 2015 Daisy Day held in March at the Chanhassen Recreation Center. The theme for Daisy Day was a Taste of Twilight Camp.
Led by the Senior Girl Scout Troops 10407 and 12923, the Daisies decorated sit upons, learned camp songs, played fun camp games and snacked on indoor smores and water. The Daisies also learned some Girl Scout Traditions like the friendship circle, the quiet sign and opening and closing ceremonies.
Troop 10407 and 12923 used the Daisy Day activities to finish their Mission Sisterhood Journeys by debutting their “Like a Girl” video and leading the girls in a “meet new friend” activity.
